AcroYoga Retreat

ViktoriyaKoleva : 15-08-2014 to 16-08-2014 : Auroville
: 9.00 to 17:30   Rs : 3800
 :  Sports

AcroYoga is a practice that blends yoga and acrobatics to provide physical and mental health benefits. In addition to the exercise and strength building aspects of AcroYoga the partner-balancing poses help improve concentration and trust. This is Level 1 of the Retreat and no previous experience in yoga, AcroYoga or acrobatics is necessary for participating. However, participants must note that this is a more vigorous practice than other traditional yoga practices, and must prepare accordingly

Participants will learn the three roles of an AcroYoga practice: Base, Flyer, and Spotter. The Base is the one with the most contact on the ground, providing stability and support to the Flyer. The feet and hands of the Base provide the foundation on which the Flyer lifts off the ground to assume dynamic positions, developing balance, confidence, and core strength. All the while, the Spotter will learn to keep an objective view of the partners, ensuring that the Flyer lands safely in case of any slips. The Spotter will also learn to make recommendations to the Base and Flyer to improve their form.

Damien and Mark will facilitate this Retreat. After decoding books and videos, the French-American duo has been offering workshops and retreats in Auroville over the past three years. Watch Damien’s AcroYoga at  http://youtu.be/yvFWUXV_g5w

Damien practice Acroyoga since 4 years by co-creating this workshop in 2010 at Auroville with a small group of yogis. He learns Asthanga yoga and Aerial through rope silk and trapeze at Miracle circus camp. He supports circus by teaching Acroyoga for kids. He likes the flying therapeutic part of Acroyoga as a healing part of the mind and the body.
