Greetings from Pondicherry Science Forum.

The night sky has always been a great fascination to the human being from time immemorial. Astronomy has been an unavoidable part of the development of of science, maritime travel, trade, agriculture, and what not?

The month of February is a good time for night sky watching and Pondicherry Science Forum had been conducting night sky watching workshops every year apart from conducting any special celestial events like the transits/eclipses etc.

This year too, PSF is organising a ''Night Time Astronomy'' workshop at the Auroville Botanical Garden – a place away from the city light pollution – from6.00 pm on 8th February 2014 to 6 am the next day.
Apart from naked eye night sky observation with sky map the workshop is aided with Telecopes to enhance our vision.
Mr.S. Parthasarathy, Astronomer, TNSF, Kalpakkam.
Dr.R. Madhivanane,Astronomer, PSF. would be guiding the workshop.

The team should assemble at 5.00 P.M. on 08.02.2014 at the Govt. Guest House , Indira Nagar, Opposite to JIPMER Hospital.
The workshop is limited to 50 persons. Please call and register your name on or before 05-02-2014.

All participants will get 'Night sky watching for beginners' book for basic knowledge through email.
If you read & bring the booklet it will be of immense use..

School students are not allowed at the Auroville Botanical garden and are thus prevented from attending the workshop.

Dinner & tea will be arranged for payment of Rs.100.
