Leh is the capital of the Ladakh district and also the gateway to Ladakh’s many beautiful places. Situated at 11,500 feet in the mighty trans-Himalayan mountains, Leh is well connected to Manali and Srinagar via road, and to the rest of the country by air.

Friendly people, clean mountain air and dramatic views on all sides make Leh a perfect stop for a couple of days before exploring the region. The world’s highest motorable road, the Khardung La is an hour’s drive from Leh!

PANGONG LAKE:

Pangong tso is Tibetan for ‘long, narrow, enchanted lake’. There could not have been a better name. 604 sq kms in size and azure blue in colour, Pangong was made famous by Aamir Khan in his film, ‘3 Idiots’.

Pangong’s crystal clear waters, the deep blue and green colours of the lake and the stark mountains surrounding the waters all make for ‘picture-perfect’ postcards! Evenings and early mornings are the most beautiful times here, when the sun’s orange playfully mixes with the blue of the lake, creating a surreal image one has to see to believe! We camp on the shores of the lake at night, and in case you manage to get out of your cozy tent at night, be sure to check out the still waters bathing in silvery moonlight!
