Summer School
At the Summer School 2016, typologies of African architecture will be explored in reference to their adaptation to the context of Auroville. Participants will evaluate an existing design and engage in the hands-on construction of a structure that allows this amalgamation of cultures. Locally available, low-cost materials will be effectively utilized through innovative building technologies. Moreover, a design exercise inclusive of model making - building a small home that represents the architectural genius of African cultures- will be conducted during this program.
